Barn Owl Box

Barn Owl Box we call 'Barney' The Barn Owl Box - By Wildlife and Birdcare CIC. A brand NEW design built by Pete, following the design spec of The Barn Owl Trust, the difference here is ours is made from Larch, a red wood with a much longer life. 

Often barn owl boxes are made from ply a sheet material where all the layers are glued together, over time and under the duress from the changeable, seasonable weather the glued edges come apart and the box has a really short shelf life. 

Ours is made from Larch and will provide over 20 years lifespan,  Larch is a natural water repellent, our roof is made from durable, sustainable heavy duty felt.  The box itself is solid 18mm thick. The larch will hold up to the elements much better.  

The cost is therefore reflected in the quality.  This box is heavy duty and lots of owl boxes on the internet are cheaper than ours, but for the reasons we are providing.  Our box is made from British Larch, felled from British Forests, with a Chain of Custody for each log, which are numbered and we can provide proof of provenance.  Larch is much more expensive but it provides you the longevity.  

We use medium EN certified safe for nature stain, with no chemicals or dangerous stains.   Each log is date stamped with a location of where the log was felled.
